Terms of use

What this website does, what it does not do, and who your installation contract is actually with.

Who these terms are with

This website is operated by Progressive Website Development Ltd, registered in England and Wales under company number 07714132, registered office 58 Greenbank Drive, Chesterfield, England, S40 4BX. Using this site means accepting these terms.

What this website does

We provide information about electrical installation condition reports and arrange for a qualified local electrician to quote for and carry out the inspection.

We are not an electrical contractor and we do not carry out inspections ourselves. Any contract for the work is between you and the electrician, not between you and us. Their terms and their insurance apply to that work, and the report is issued and signed by them.

Quotes and prices

Nothing on this site is a quotation or an offer to contract. Prices depend on your property and are given by the electrician.

Any figures produced by the calculators on this site are estimates generated from the numbers you enter. They are illustrative and are not a quotation.

Accuracy of the information here

We take care to keep the technical and regulatory information on this site correct, and we date the pages where the facts change, such as government grant rates.

This site describes the law in England, and it is general information rather than legal advice. Regulations change, and two of the ones described here changed within twelve months of being written. Every statutory statement carries its source and the date it was last checked, so check the source before relying on it, and take your electrician's advice on anything specific to your property.

This site does not give legal, financial or electrical advice.

Links to other websites

Where we link to GOV.UK or a manufacturer, we do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content.

Naming a standard, a scheme or an authority describes it. It does not imply that they endorse us, or that we hold any approval or accreditation from them unless we say so explicitly.

Our liability

We do not exclude liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Beyond that, we are not liable for loss arising from reliance on general information published here, and we are not liable for the work of an electrician or for the contents of a report they issue, which is a matter between you and them under their contract with you.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction.
